One word substitution refers to a term or phrase that describes a complex idea or concept in a single word. It is also known as "nominalization" or "substantivization" and is a useful tool for concise and precise communication. For example, the phrase "a person who loves solitude" can be replaced by the one word substitution "recluse".

time spent recovering from an illness or medical treatment; recuperation. 

Deciduous:
(of a tree or shrub) shedding its leaves annually.

Dotage:
Extreme old age when a person behaves like a child.
The period of life in which a person is old and weak.

Convoy:
a group of ships or vehicles traveling together, typically accompanied by armed troops, warships, or other vehicles for protection.

Dormant:
Not usually in use but capable of being easily called into action in movement of emergency.

Conscription:
compulsory enlistment for state service, typically into the armed forces.

a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Christian Church.

Fusillade:
Simultaneous discharge of rifle shots.

Ductile:
(of a metal) able to be drawn out into a thin wire.

Tendril:
Spiral suit of plant which winds itself round another body for support.

Endemic:
(of a disease or condition) regularly found among particular people or in a certain area.

Facsimile:
an exact copy, especially of written or printed material.
